The Wolverine is back! And he’s got a full beard, a limp, and he’s old..? Let’s talk about Logan (2017).
I watched this film in the cinema the other day and quite liked it. I will try not to spoil anything, but it is by far the bloodiest of the X-men films. And I don’t mind that. I mean, when you’ve watched Game of Thrones, Hacksaw Ridge, and a huge bunch of horror films, you find yourself almost immune to gore.
The story is set in the year 2029 and mutants have almost gone. Logan drinks his days away while taking care of a very old and ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border along with Caliban. He picks up petty cash working as a limo driver, but things change when a woman hires him to escort a young girl to safety in Canada. Soon his claws come out as he faces off new foes and enemies from his past as he risks his life to fulfil his mission.
It is a much darker and more violent superhero film than I’m used to. It doesn’t have the same feel of unseriousness and fun that for instance, The Avengers had. But that wouldn’t suit it anyway.
If you are a fan of the X-men franchise, then you absolutely have to watch this film. Period.
Which films have you been finding yourself watching this week and enjoying? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll see you for my next post. Bye!
